West Bengal - India, 2020
During my university degree I travelled to India for 3 weeks in January of 2020. (Side note; I remember one of the girls on my trip saying that maybe we should be wearing masks on the plane, because her mum said there had been an outbreak of sickness. But most of us shrugged it off!). Thinking back on it now in 2024 after 4 years of covid and big life transitions, I can safely say that my trip to the colourful India deeply shaped my worldview, and came just in time. I witnessed such wealth, crudely buttressed against such poverty. And in that stark diversity, I met the warmest, kindest people, with the most incredible stories to share. Stories of courage, of love, and most often than not, of devastating heartbreak. At this point I was an amatur photographer, just excited to be overseas. I am so glad I brought my camera to take the photos I did,
